uST technology

uST Transport and Infrastructure Solutions employ a cutting-edge technology for constructing pre-stressed overpasses that use a new generation of string rail as a critical component. The string rail consists of a steel or composite beam with a bundle of wires (strings) at its core, which are pre-stressed with tension and have a rail head. Passenger and cargo electric vehicles, called uPods, move automatically along the rail head on steel wheels, achieving speeds of up to 150 km/h (with a potential to reach 500 km/h in the future).

Steel Wheel

  • Symmetrical rail head wear
  • 99,8% efficiency
  • No slipping in the contact patch
  • Insignificant contact stress (about 200 Mpa)
  • Minor wheel rolling resistance

String Rail

  • Absence of joints and temperature seams
  • High track evenness
  • Comfort and smooth running
  • High movement speed
  • Minimum material consumption

Automated Control Systems

The control systems of uST Transport & Infrastructure Complexes are fully automated. With the help of technical vision, they continuously gather information from the route, monitor route assignments, and enable the transport to respond promptly to obstacles and potential risks. These systems play a vital role in providing passengers with a comfortable and safe transportation experience, while also ensuring reliable and accident-free transportation of goods.

Control System (includes the following main systems:

  • The central control system (CCS) is specifically developed to oversee the vehicles in the transport complex (TC) and automated infrastructure facilities. It creates a traffic schedule by analyzing the status of all vehicles and systems within the transport complex to guarantee the safe and comfortable transportation of passengers. The CCS plays a crucial role in ensuring the efficient operation of the entire transport network.
  • The onboard vehicle control system (OCS) is specifically created to manage the subsystems of the vehicle, ensuring safe and comfortable execution of the traffic schedule. The OCS plays a vital role in maintaining the smooth operation of the vehicle, making it an essential component of the transport system.
  • The automated infrastructure facilities and supplementary systems are designed to support the operation of the vehicle and ensure safe and comfortable transportation for passengers. These facilities and systems are specifically developed to guarantee the smooth operation of the vehicle, while also enhancing the safety and comfort of passengers throughout their journey.

The systems receive information from various target-specific sensors, process and analyze it to generate full route and speed control of uPods. They are equipped to make independent decisions, such as reducing speed or stopping, in case they detect an obstacle or potential danger along the route. These systems facilitate real-time data exchange with the components of the transport and infrastructure complex, as well as the reception of signals from other vehicles, enabling them to operate autonomously while ensuring the safety of passengers and cargo.

The automated control systems continuously monitor the safety conditions within the vehicle cabin and the surrounding environment along the entire route. They facilitate the coordination of passenger embarkation and disembarkation, as well as adjust the travel intervals of uPods to match passenger or cargo flows, ensuring that the rail electric cars are neither overcrowded nor empty. Additionally, these systems are equipped to identify potentially hazardous passenger behavior and take measures to prevent dangerous situations, including acts of terrorism, vandalism, and other safety risks.

The automated control systems eliminate human error, reduce the risk of accidents and traffic congestion, provide full speed control, and enable uninterrupted 24-hour operation, regardless of weather conditions such as snowfall, heavy rain, sandstorms, and more. These systems allow the uST rolling stock to be easily adapted to any environment, whether within or outside of a city, in mountainous areas, or across wide water barriers, ensuring seamless and reliable transportation.
